What Are AmnioFix Injections?

AmnioFix Injection is a new treatment available for Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendinitis. The AmnioFix Injectable is a micronized dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane allograft (skin substitute product). When injected, the growth factors will help your own cells regenerate the damaged tissue, reduce scar tissue formation, and control inflammation.

AmnioFix injections include a total of 285 regulatory proteins. The platelet-derived, fibroblast, epidermal and transforming growth factors in AmnioFix – which are naturally found in the body – have the remarkable ability to:

  • Signal stem cells in the body to repair tissue damage
  • Stimulate the movement of oxygen and nutrients to injured areas
  • Improve connective tissue and stimulate the growth of new tissue

These growth factors are highly effective at treating inflamed soft tissue micro-tears that have been brought on by overuse or trauma. AmnioFix injections can speed up healing to get you back on your feet and enjoying an active lifestyle much sooner.

AmnioFix Injections for Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendinitis

Plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis are two of the most common foot-related problems. It’s estimated that 10% of people will suffer from plantar fasciitis at least once during their life (typically when they’re between 40 and 60 years old); while between 5 and 10 people in every 100,000 are diagnosed with Achilles tendinitis every year (the condition is common in active people between 30 and 50 years of age).

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is one of the most common issues relating to the foot, affecting more than one million persons per year. Plantar Fasciitis is a degenerative condition and may be caused by microtears in the Plantar Fascia from repeated trauma or overuse. Classic treatments for Plantar Fasciitis include rest, stretching exercises, orthotics, weight loss, corticosteroid injections, night splints, EPAT Therapy, and platelet-rich plasma injections.

Achilles Tendinitis

Achilles Tendinitis most commonly occurs in runners who have sudden intensity increases during their runs.  It’s also common in middle aged people who play sports on the weekends.  The pain associated with Achilles Tendintis begins as an ache in the back of the leg or above the heel after exercising.  You may experience tenderness or stiffness, especially in the morning, which usually improves with mild activity.

AmnioFix vs Alternative Injections for Foot Pain

AmnioFix treatments differ from corticosteoroid injections and platelet-rich plasma injections. Corticosteoroid injections are given after conservative treatments failed. Unfortunately these injections do not help the damaged tissue to regenerate — they simply mask the pain. Patients often reach the limit of steroid injections and their pain remains unresolved. Platelet rich plasma injections are more natural but do not have the growth factors for regenerating tissue.

In contrast, an AmnioFix injection is a non-steroidal treatment for relieving pain that contains a myriad of useful growth factors. The injections can have an extraordinary effect on the body, making cells work significantly harder in order to repair damage to tissues and accelerate the time it takes a person to recover from an injury.

Are AmnioFix Injections Safe?

An AmnioFix injection is an extremely safe procedure that’s not known to produce any adverse reactions. The injections are performed on an outpatient basis and the procedure process is very quick.

After the procedure, there’s absolutely no downtime. Patients may experience a mild discomfort following the injection and for around 2 to 3 days, which elevation and ice will help to reduce.
